Summary: The drum brake of a crane is a key safety component of lifting machinery. Its core purpose is to generate braking torque through friction, achieve parking, deceleration, hovering and emergency braking of the mechanism, and ensure operational safety.
Crane drum brakes (mostly electric hydraulic drive) are the core safety components of lifting machinery, mainly used for the following four functions:
Parking and parking brake: When the equipment stops running, it automatically holds the brake wheel to prevent the suspended object from sliding down or the mechanism from slipping due to gravity or wind, ensuring safe hovering for a long time.
Work braking (deceleration and fixed point) achieves smooth deceleration, speed regulation, and precise fixed point parking during the operation of the mechanism. Some new two-stage braking structures can first flexibly decelerate and then fully lock, reducing transmission impact.
Emergency safety braking: In case of sudden power failure or malfunction, the spring force is used to instantly cut off the power and hold the brake as the last line of defense to prevent heavy accidents.
Windproof and anti slip protection: Especially suitable for outdoor gantry cranes and other walking mechanisms, providing high braking torque to resist slip risks in strong wind environments.
This brake is widely applicable to the lifting, operating, and rotating mechanisms of bridge and gantry cranes, as well as heavy-duty conveying equipment in ports, metallurgy, mining, and other industries. It has the characteristics of high braking torque, fast response, and low maintenance cost.
