Summary: The commonly used brakes for port lifting equipment are mainly divided into block type (drum type), disc type, and belt type according to their structure. Among them, normally closed electric hydraulic block type brakes are the mainstream configuration for lifting mechanisms, while disc type brakes are mostly used in high-frequency heavy load scenarios.
The core of the lifting equipment adopts a normally closed friction brake, with the mainstream types being electric hydraulic block type and electromagnetic block type. The lifting/slewing mechanism must meet the safety requirements of automatic brake when power is cut off.
Core Classification and Typical Applications
Electric hydraulic block brake: driven by an electric hydraulic thruster, the dual brake pad external brake wheel has a large braking torque, smooth action, and good heat dissipation. It is widely used in the lifting and operating mechanisms of large and medium-sized cranes and is currently the most mainstream configuration.
Electromagnetic block brake: divided into short stroke (fast action, high impact, used for small cars/light loads) and long stroke (stable, used for medium and large equipment), relying on electromagnetic iron to release the brake and spring to hold the brake when the power is off, with a simple and reliable structure.
Common Model Examples:
1) Standard electric hydraulic long stroke block brake, suitable for various general cranes.
2) Improved version with integrated frequency converter or energy-saving thruster, supporting soft braking and precise parking.
3) Short stroke electromagnetic brake: used in light load high-speed scenarios such as electric hoists and small car operating mechanisms.
