Bridge Gear Girder Rail Brake

Application Domains:

     LT (Long Travel): This motion moves the entire crane bridge up and down the length of the workshop or building along runway rails.

     CT (Cross Travel): This motion moves the lifting mechanism (the trolley or hoist) back and forth across the main bridge girder, perpendicular to the LT direction.

     Girder: The main horizontal beam (either single or double) that spans the width of the building and supports the trolley and hoist.

Common Types of LT and CT Brakes:

      Electromagnetic Disc Brakes (DC/AC):  Very common for smaller or single-girder cranes. They engage automatically via springs when power is cut and release magnetically when power is applied. 

      Electro-Hydraulic Thruster (EHT) Brakes: Frequently used on larger double-girder cranes for smooth, reliable stopping power on high-speed drive shafts.

      Shoe Brakes (AC/DC): Mechanical shoes press against a brake drum attached to the motor shaft, providing strong friction braking.

How Girder Crane Brakes Work:
