Maintenance of Drum Coupling in Bridge Crane

The working temperature of the drum coupling ranges from -25 to +80°C; it can transmit a nominal torque of 16 to 560 kN·m and a permissible radial load of 18 to 355 KN. Compared with other couplings for drums. 

The drum coupling has the following characteristics: it is stable and reliable in operation, capable of withstanding large radial loads and transmitting significant torque, and has a high overload capacity. It features a compact and sturdy structure, with a serialized design that simplifies the overall structure and reduces equipment weight. 

Furthermore, it has good positioning performance, easy installation and adjustment, and simple maintenance. It is equipped with a positioning wear indicator, ensuring safety and reliability. It can be paired with a common shaft-extending reducer, reducing equipment costs.

The maintenance of the reel coupling is crucial. Firstly, the relative position between the positioning wear indicator and the positioning wear notch of the coupling, as well as the condition of the connecting bolts, should be checked at least once every three months.

Secondly, when the axial play of the coupling exceeds the limit value, the axial clearance of the fixed support seat of the drum assembly must be adjusted and locked securely.

Thirdly, if the relative displacement between the positioning wear indicator of the coupling and the positioning wear notch exceeds the m1 value in Figure 4, it indicates that the drum gear of the coupling has worn down to its limit thickness and is about to fail. The coupling should be replaced promptly.

Fourthly, when the reel is subjected to bidirectional loads during operation, the allowable relative displacement between the positioning wear indicator and the positioning wear notch is 2m1.
