Summary: The band brake produced by CTECH Machinery SDN BHD is a type of brake that utilizes the contraction of the brake band around the drum to produce a braking effect. It can be used on equipment such as automatic transmissions for automobiles, anchoring machines, winches for ships and oceans, mining winches, and construction winches.
The inner surface of the brake band of the belt brake produced by CTECH Machinery SDN BHD is coated with friction material, which wraps around the outer surface of the drum. One end of the brake band is fixed to the transmission housing, and the other end is connected to the piston in the brake cylinder.
When the brake oil enters the brake cylinder, the compression piston return spring pushes the piston, which in turn moves the movable end of the brake band and tightens the brake drum. Since the brake drum is integrated with a component in the planetary gear mechanism, clamping the brake drum means clamping and fixing the component, preventing it from rotating.
After the brake oil pressure is released, the return spring resets the piston in the brake cylinder and pulls back the movable end of the brake band, thereby releasing the brake drum and releasing the brake.
The brake band is a key component of a belt brake, which can be divided into rigid brake bands and flexible brake bands according to its deformation capacity. Rigid brake bands are thicker than flexible brake bands, with greater strength and heat capacity, but their disadvantage is that they cannot produce deformation that is compatible with the brake hub.
Flexible brake bands can fully adhere to the brake hub during operation and are cost-effective. According to the structure, there are two types of brakes: single-sided and double-sided.
Bilateral brake bands can better adhere to the outer surface of the drum, thus providing greater braking friction torque with a constant force at the movable end; At the same time, the joint between the double-sided brake band and the drum is smoother than that of the single-sided brake band, making the shifting action more gentle. Mostly used for low-end and reverse brakes with high torque.
