Summary: The belt brake used for offshore anchor machines produced by CTECH Machinery SDN BHD is a mechanical braking device that wraps around the sprocket brake drum and generates friction torque by tightening the brake band to brake the sprocket and control the speed of anchor chain lowering.
Working principle of belt brake used for offshore anchor machines:
Using a flexible steel strip (lined with friction material) to wrap around the brake drum, the steel strip is tightened by a lever or hydraulic mechanism during operation, generating a clamping torque to prevent or limit the rotation of the sprocket.
Key components: composed of brake band (steel substrate+friction lining), brake drum (usually integrated at the sprocket shaft end), control mechanism (manual lever or hydraulic cylinder), and adjustment bolts.
Object of action: Directly acting on the sprocket, not the motor or spindle, aimed at controlling the motion state of the anchor chain.
Main functions:
Emergency braking/parking: Brake the chain wheel during anchoring or parking to prevent accidental slippage of the anchor chain.
Adjustable speed lowering: During the anchoring process, the release speed of the anchor chain is precisely controlled by adjusting the braking torque to avoid free fall impact.
Energy dissipation: Convert the gravitational potential energy of the anchor chain falling into thermal energy (some large anchor machines are equipped with hydraulic braking, but belt type is mainly used for mechanical locking and fine-tuning).
