1. Unusual noise or vibration

One of the most common signs of a brake system problem is unusual noise or vibration during braking. If you hear grinding, squealing, or grating noises when you apply the brakes, it could indicate worn brake pads, damaged brake rotors, or misaligned brake components. 

Similarly, if excessive vibration or pulsation is felt through the brake pedal or steering wheel, it could indicate a problem with the brake rotors, calipers, or hydraulic components. Ignoring these warning signs can cause further damage to the brake system and affect braking performance, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.

2. Decreased Braking Performance

Another telltale sign of a brake system problem is a noticeable decrease in performance or effectiveness. If you experience longer stopping distances, delayed response times, or reduced braking force when braking, this may indicate issues such as worn brake pads, contaminated brake fluid, or air or hydraulic leaks in the brake lines. Inadequate braking performance can present a significant safety risk, especially in industrial environments where heavy equipment and machinery are used. 

Any issues that affect braking performance must be addressed promptly to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of workers and equipment.

3. Brake fluid leaks or loss

Fluid leaks are a clear sign of a brake system problem that requires immediate attention. Check around the brake calipers, wheel cylinders, brake lines, and master cylinder reservoir for signs of brake fluid leaks. Brake fluid leaks can be caused by damaged seals, corrosion in the brake lines, or worn components, and if not addressed, can compromise the integrity of the brake system and cause brake failure. 

Additionally, a sudden loss of brake fluid or a significant drop in the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir may indicate a leak or other problem that requires immediate investigation and repair.
