Functionality of Spring Applied Motor Brake

The rotor electromagnetic disc brake is an important component of electrical transmission system. It forms a new YEJ series electromagnetic braking three-phase asynchronous motor together with Y series motor. It is mainly used in metallurgy, chemical industry, construction, mining.

The electromagnetic disc brake uses an electric current to create a magnetic field, which either attracts an armature to a spinning disc (friction brake) or induces eddy currents in the disc (eddy current brake) to generate a braking force, stopping or holding motion, with the action typically reversing when power is removed to release the brake. 

Installation process of the electromagnetic power loss brake:

1. Install the retaining ring in the gear sleeve; 
2. Install the flat key;
3. Install the gear sleeve; 
4. Install the outer retaining ring of the gear sleeve to ensure that the gear sleeve has no axial movement; 
5. Install the brake disc assembly to ensure smooth axial sliding of the brake disc on the gear sleeve; 
6. Install the yoke assembly; 
7. Adjust the air gap; 
8. Tighten the hollow bolt on the motor end cover; 
9. Install cooling fan; 
10. Install the fan retaining ring; 
11. Install the motor hood.
