Summary: The TKG shoe brake with TE hydraulic pusher assembly is designed to stop and hold machine shafts (primarily lifting and transport machines) in a braked state when the drive is inactive. These shoe brakes are designed for installation on lifting and transport machines, winches, conveyors, and other mechanisms with a horizontal brake pulley axis.
Crane brakes are classified by design and drive type:
By design:
• Shoe brakes — braking by pressing the shoes against the pulley (most common in lifting mechanisms);
• Disc brakes — compact, with uniform wear of the linings;
By drive type:
• Hydraulic (TKG + TE) — smooth operation, high reliability;
• Electromagnetic (TKT/TKP + MO/MP) — quick engagement, easy connection;
• Pneumatic — for explosive environments and large cranes.
How to install a shoe brake correctly?
1. Preparation: clean the mounting surface, check the pulley alignment;
2. Fastening: install the brake frame on the foundation, tighten the bolts to the torque specified in the data sheet;
3. Adjustment: use screws to adjust the gap between the pads and the pulley (1–1.5 mm);
4. Connection: connect the hydraulic tappet to the power supply (380 V, 50 Hz), check the phasing;
5. Test: perform 3–5 on/off cycles, ensure complete adhesion of the pads.
What maintenance does the brake require?
Maintenance schedule:
Daily: visual inspection of brake pads, checking the pushrod stroke;
Monthly: checking lining wear (remaining ≥ 2 mm), lubrication of joints;
Quarterly: checking the level and quality of oil in the hydraulic pushrod, replacing it if contaminated;
Annually: complete inspection, replacing pads if worn, checking the springs.
