The working principle of electromagnetic brake is as follows:
The process of power on and brake release: When current is applied to the electromagnetic coil of the brake, a strong magnetic field is generated around the coil. Under the action of a magnetic field, the armature inside the brake is attracted by electromagnetic force, overcoming the elastic force of the spring and quickly closing in.
At the same time as the armature is attracted, it pushes the screw connected to it to move, and the screw further drives the brake arms on both sides to open, achieving brake release. At this time, the mechanical device or transmission shaft that is being braked can rotate or run freely.
Power off brake process: When the power supply to the brake is cut off, the current in the electromagnetic coil disappears and the magnetic field also disappears. Without the action of a magnetic field, the armature is no longer attracted by electromagnetic force. Under the elastic force of the spring, the armature is pulled back to its initial position.
The return of the armature drives the brake arm back to the closed position through the screw, causing the brake pad to tightly grip the brake wheel or other brake components. By relying on the friction between the brake pad and the brake wheel, a braking torque is generated, which quickly stops or decelerates the mechanical device or transmission shaft, achieving the braking function.
